In an effort to achieve developed state status, and in line with the Progressive Johor objective, Ihsan Johor was involved in the implementation of the Johor State Government initiative to achieve a new decade. Among the platforms provided by Ihsan Johor is a community project that promotes a high spirit of volunteerism among the various communities.
With this, the Rumah Ihsan Johor house was built in only 3 days involving 50 volunteers from Universiti Technologi Malaysia (UTM Faculty of Built Environment), Kolej Politeknik Metro Johor Bahru, Kolej Sayong Didik (Kulai), and staff of CGPV and Forest City Golf Hotel.
The 28th Rumah Ihsan Johor Handover Ceremony at Kampung Pok Besar, Gelang Patah was conducted by Yang Berbahagia Tuan Haji Khairi A. Malik, Gelang Patah Umno Division Head and witnessed by Tuan Haji Ir. Syarul Izam Bin Sarifudin, Country Garden Pacificview Deputy Managing Director of CGPV. Also present at the event was Yang Berhormat Hj. Suhaimi Salleh, President of Ihsan Johor.
This project is the result of sponsorship and full contribution from CGPV and is the first phase of the five phases sponsored by the company, which is forking out a total of RM250,000 (5 units of Rumah Ihsan Johor), making CGPV the only major corporate sponsor of the Pertubuhan Ihsan Johor. The next four phases will be completed by the end of 2018.
In a joint media statement, Datuk Md Othman Yusof, CGPV Executive Director was quoted as saying, “The construction of the Rumah Ihsan is one of CGPV’s corporate social responsibilities (CSR) which focuses on the value of community development and CGPV has always opened up opportunities for the local communities to enjoy the abundance of the Forest City development.”
A total of 37 of the 50 volunteers involved were Forest City employees comprising of engineers, architects, managers, executives, hotel marketing officers and staff.
Zainal Mohd Yusof, 54, a father of 5 children who are still studying in public schools and institution of higher learning, was among the pioneer batch of families to enjoy the privilege of being a Rumah Ihsan recipient. “Alhamdulillah, this unexpected sustenance gives a new breath of life to my family”, said Zainal.
The Ihsan Johor Foundation project can be an exemplary role model for other corporate companies to adopt as one of their corporate social responsibility programmes, as it would enable them to sponsor the project and help Ihsan Johor achieve its target as one of the main volunteers in Johor”, said Farrah Faridah Baptist, Ihsan Johor Chief Executive Officer.
