The 30 boys and girls of 13 to 17 years of age arrived at the resort with their teachers looking forward to a delicious meal after the rigours of fasting. The
children came from poor families and some from single-parent homes.
Apart from the buffet dinner, the students also received the traditional ‘green packet’ with RM45.00 as a contribution from the Resort and the Sports Club.
The children also received goodie bags containing stationery sponsored by Schwan-STABILO Marketing, a storybook sponsored by Pelangi Publishing Group, snacks and an AEON Big Gift Card worth RM50.00.
In welcoming the children and their teachers, Sunny Soo, Pulai Spring’s General Manager said that the ‘Majlis Iftar Ramadan’ annual charity event was part of the resort’s Corporate Social Responsibility Programme.
“It is us giving back to the community and to the less fortunate at a time when underprivileged students and children need more love and attention,” said Sunny.
The school’s Principal, Mohd Azam Anuar in thanking Pulai Springs Resort for the Ramadan treat said, “This is the first time that we have been invited and we hope it will not be the last as we want to engage with companies and organisations outside of the school system as part of a community.”
Mohd Azam said that ‘buka puasa’ events of previous years had been organised by the parents and teachers themselves through their ‘Penglibatan Ibu Baba Komuniti (PIBK) or Parents Community Involvement initiative.
On hand to welcome the children and teachers of the school were the committee members of the Resort’s Sports Club and staffs who were later rewarded with a Nasyid performance put up by some of the children.
