The 8th Ponderosa – Southern Lot Charity Golf played over the weekend of 7th October 2017 at Ponderosa Golf & Country Club generated total donations amounting to RM261,505 including a Dialysis Machine for one of the four beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries and their allocation of funds this year were; RM93,010 donated to Persatuan Penjagaan Kanak-kanak Terencat Akal Johor Bahru (Society  for the Care of Mentally-Handicapped Children Johor Bahru), RM50,570 donated to The Palliative Care Association Johor Bahru (for cancer patients), RM101,200 donated to Persatuan Kebajikan Amal Lexin, Tun Aminah, Johor Bahru including the value of a Dialysis Machine donated by the Koh Family.

“Notwithstanding the overall tightening financial situation, our 2017 effort was commendable as our collection this year ranks as the second highest on record among all the 8 years of the charity golf being played,” said Ivan Teo, General Manager of Ponderosa Golf & Country Resort.

RM15,000 for a Bursary Programme which was to donate RM1,500 each to 10 secondary school students chosen and screened by the Lions Club of Tanjung Petrie, Johor Bahru under their FACE (Financial Assistance for Children’s Education) Project.  These were secondary students who were high academic achievers but who came from low-income families.  The 5 students were from Foon Yew High School and 5 students were from Government schools such as SMK SETA, SMK Tun Syed Nasir Ismail, SMK Damai Jaya, SMK Dato Usman Awang and SMK Sri Rahmat, all in Johor Bahru.

RM1,625 was given as bursary to the daughter of one of Ponderosa Golf Resort’s employee who was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident on his way to work in May this year.
