Mah Sing Group has awarded Kimlun Group an RM50 million design and build contract to build a connecting road into the Tanjung Langsat – Cahaya Baru Toll Connecting Highway, which forms part of the Senai Desaru Expressway (SDE). Benefiting Mah Sing’s Meridin East township and surrounding areas, the connecting road will shorten travel time to Tanjung Langsat and Pasir Gudang by 15 minutes to 45 minutes and also allowing easier access to the SDE as well as the North South Highway.

This was announced during a press conference by both parties at Mah Sing’s Meridin East Sales Gallery and Show Village. In attendance were Mah Sing’s Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Ho Hon Sang, Mah Sing’s Senior General Manager (Southern), Benjamin Ong, Kimlun Group’s Executive Director, Chin Lian Hing as well as Pasir Gudang City Council’s Secretary, Saipol Rahmat Bin Hj Amat.

“We are pleased to award this contract to Kimlun Group for their excellent track record and expertise in road construction for almost 20 years,” said Datuk Ho Hon Sang.

The 2.5km long and two lanes wide connecting roads comprise of an egress and ingress into the Tanjung Langsat — Cahaya Baru Toll Connecting Highway and will allow traffic to commute between the Jalan Kong Kong and Masai area to Tanjung Langsat and Pasir Gudang.

Construction on the connecting road was set to begin in the first quarter of 2018 with completion scheduled for end 2020. A principal approval has been obtained from the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) for the connecting road while pending approval by relevant authorities on the detailed design plans.

In addition to the connecting road, Mah Sing has also started upgrading works to widen Jalan Kong Kong to a 40 metre, four-lane thoroughfare. The upgrading process is being done in phases and is scheduled for full completion by end 2020.

Meridin East is a 1,313 acres integrated mixed development situated in Pasir Gudang, with a Gross Domestic Value (GDV) of RM5billion.
