Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), together with Johor Educational Department recently organised a motivational camp for standard 6 students who will be sitting for their upcoming Ujian Peperiksaan Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examination in September.
The one day motivational talk helped selected Year 6 students with learning techniques and instilled confidence in them through invaluable tips. About 130 students from 13 primary schools in Gelang Patah participated in the programme that was held at Educity Lecture Hall, Iskandar Puteri.
The annual programme was organised as part of PTP’s CSR initiatives to alleviate the level of education of the local students. The candidates attended a session by Dr. Mohd Shukri Abdullah, a well-known motivation speaker who specialises in learning techniques.
PTP’s Chief Executive Officer, Marco Neelsen said, “This year is the 10th consecutive year that PTP has successfully organised the programme. Through this education initiative, the participants were encouraged to be lifelong learners, innovative, and possess self-esteem. The programme is also developed to support the Johor Educational Department’s effort in improving the overall academic performance of rural school children”.
Zafirah Adina Binti Zainudin, a participant from SK Morni Pok, said, “I am very grateful to participate in this programme. The speaker was very good and shared many insightful study skills with us.
PTP places great importance in the socio-economic development and well-being of the community within the port‘s vicinity. Various initiatives are already in the pipeline for other education-related CSR programmes this year including English Development Programme inclusive of Tuition Class, Communication Workshop, English Boot Camp and Mini Choral Speaking Competition, SPM Motivational Talk, PTP educational tour, distribution of schooling aid and many others.
