In a ground breaking ceremony held at Jalan Permas ½, Bandar Baru Permas Jaya, Menteri Besar Johor Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin announced that a multi-purpose hall or Dewan Muafakat, will be erected at the 1.1 acre site.
The fully air-conditioned Dewan Muafakat Permas Jaya will encompass four badminton courts with 100 spectator seats, a kindergarten, a prayer hall, OKU friendly toilets, a meeting room, food courts as well as sales kiosks for budding entrepreneurs.
“The infrastructure will have a positive impact and will be the focal point for economic and social development in the area,” said Khaled.
Khaled who is also the ADUN for the Permas constituency stressed that the hall will also serve as a platform for all races to come together and socialise regularly.
The construction of the multi-purpose hall will cost the state RM8million while land acquisition cost was around RM2million.
“Although the area of where the hall is being built is considered as part of the low-cost housing estate, the hall itself is very high-end, further proving that the state government emphasises equality in deliverables. This is in line with creating a conducive environment for the people,” added Khaled.
The hall is expected to be completed in 18 months. KPRJ’s Chief Executive Officer Haji Abd Razak Mohd Yusoff said, “We are committed to delivering infrastructures and amenities that will benefit the people of Johor as mandated to us.”
