“If there is a plan on transforming Iskandar Malaysia as the next regional airline hub, we will need to look upon several factors such as accessibility which include logistics, infrastructure and service providers that needs to be upgraded. Indirectly, it is a logical extension when we are talking about the movement of people and cargo that would support the economic growth of Iskandar Malaysia,” said Chief Executive of Iskandar Regional Development Authority, Datuk Ismail Ibrahim to the media.
When asked whether Iskandar Malaysia is in plans to receive a new airport or will Senai International Airport be upgraded and expanded, Ismail continued that it is up to the Government to decide because it involves allocation of resources regardless whether it is driven by the public or private sector.
In conjunction with the upcoming second Invest Iskandar Malaysia Symposium 2017 which is scheduled on 3rd and 4th October 2017, the biennial event is expected to feature prominent key speakers such as International trade and Industry Minister, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Maximus Ongkili, Group Chief Executive Officer AirAsia Group, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, Managing Director of IKEA Southeast Asia, Christian Rojkjaer and more.
