The sports-based event was organised as part of PTP 2017 CSR programmes encouraging a healthy lifestyle among students to excel in both academics and co-curricular aspects.
The four-day tournament was held at SMK Dato’ Usman Awang, Johor Bahru with participation of 270 players from 10 primary schools and 8 secondary schools around Gelang Patah and Johor Bahru.
Marco Neelsen, Chief Executive Officer of PTP said, “PTP’s long association with the state government agency such as Johor Bahru Education Department has helped to advance the Johor State Government’s aspiration in developing a high quality human capital and simultaneously produce more talents in sports while promoting healthy lifestyle amongst school children within Johor Bahru.”
He also added, “PTP is fully committed in elevating the lifestyle of the local community especially around Gelang Patah area through its various CSR programmes and social welfare support. With sports-based activity such as cricket tournament, we hope to continuously promote the importance of physical education, fitness awareness and positive lifestyle among the school children”.
Taufik Bin Hamzah, Johor Bahru Education Department’s representative said, “The joint collaboration between corporate companies such as PTP and government agencies should be lauded as it can strengthen the relationship between the local corporate organisation like PTP and the government. At the same time, the participation can also help to support the government’s initiative in promoting one sport, one student programme or any other initiatives respectively”.
SMK Tanjung Adang emerged as the tournament champion for Under-18 category and SK Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar won the Under-12 category.
