The Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) has turned 180 years old since its formation in 1837 as a platform for Malaysia’s multi-sectoral business society to network and explore mutual business alliances.
To date, the chamber has advocated interest of the business society representing more than 1000 corporate members in over 30 nationalities and has witnessed monumental changes that have taken shape in the Malaysian business landscape.
“The business community in Malaysia has been reveling in the positive advancement of the Johor state over the past decade, in attestation to the diverse growth in manufacturing, infrastructure, education, tourism and services while adopting pro-business and investment friendly policies,” said MICCI President, Datuk Wira Jalilah Baba in her address during its 180th Anniversary Gala Dinner at Holiday Villa, Johor Bahru.
Throughout the glamourous night that saw over 600 attendees, the Chamber also awarded several members with the Longest-Standing Membership Award, namely HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad (130 years) and Sime Darby Berhad (100 years).
About 10 companies were established under the Star Among Star Award by the Chamber such as PWC taxation Services Sdn Bhd, CCM Chemicals Sdn Bhd, AME Development Sdn Bhd, SMJ Teratai Sdn Bhd, V.S. Industry Berhad, Eco World Development Group Berhad, Cape Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, Seri Alam Properties Sdn Bhd, M+W Group, and Deloitte Tax Services Sdn Bhd.
