In conjunction with the recent establishment of Iskandar Puteri City Council, the Coastal Highway Southern Link (CHSL) has met completion and opens to public today on 29th November 2017 with better and direct connectivity to Second Link Expressway.
The 5.2-kilometer toll-free highway was officiated by Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, that features a dual carriageway road, two interchanges, two junctions and two bridges that was led by Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) in collaboration with its partners; UEM Sunrise Berhad, Sunway Iskandar Development Sdn Bhd and Mulpha International Bhd at a cost of RM234 million.
“The CHSL is the final stretch connecting the existing Coastal Highway to the Second Link Expressway and is poised to be an important element of our road network here in Iskandar Puteri. The completed highway is projected to benefit the local population and neighbouring developments through the creation of more business and employment opportunities,” said IIB President and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Ir. Khairil Anwar Ahmad at the opening launch.
Khairil also added that the highway targets to improve connectivity and boost socio-economic development in Iskandar Malaysia while Iskandar Puteri is set to become the preferred destination for sports, education, lifestyle, investments and careers.
The construction of the new highway started three years ago and is connected from the entry point of Change 0 at Persiaran Medini 2 to the Second Link Expressway (Tanjung Pelepas Highway interchange) which is expected to cut short destination under five minutes.
