80 children from two children’s charity organisations, Pertubuhan Sosial dan Kebajikan Sari Saujana and Raudhatul Maryam were treated to a Ramadan spread at Hotel Granada organised by the hotel’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, Care Luxury CARES.

The children, aged between 5 to 16 years old arrived in three buses sponsored by Handal Indah Causeway Link.

While the organisations received food aid for their daily needs sponsored by Tiong Nam Logistics Holdings Sdn Bhd, all 80 children received their ‘Raya Green packets’ to add to their festive cheer.

“Let’s not forget those in need especially during this Ramadan season.

“We believe that in this holy month, extending our helping hand would make someone’s day and today, it belongs to these children from both Pertubuhan Sosial dan Kebajikan Sari Saujana and Raudhatul Maryam,” said Hotel Granada Johor Bahru General Manager, Alan Tan.

Alan added that the corporate social responsibility programme has contributed a significant amount including daily necessities to assist the less fortunate in preparing for the upcoming Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

“We’ve been in existence for the last 15 years helping orphans, children from single-parent and very poor homes,” said Siti Sariah bt Haji Sariman who heads Pertubuhan Sosial dan Kebajikan Sari Saujana.

The organisation also runs a charity collection centre at Danga City Mall where donors can leave items they no longer require which will be re-sold to raise money for the charity.

Raudhatul Maryam on the other hand runs orphanages and at the moment they have three premises to house the children.

“The number of children we care for have increased from just over 30 in the last two years to 52 now,” said Raudhatul Maryam’s Ustaz Mohd Nasir Bin Mohd Nor.

Both the charities depend on private donors and do not receive any financial assistance from the government.
