Malaysian AEON Foundation (MAF) treated 200 less fortunate children from around Johor Bahru and single parents for a shopping spree through its Sinar Kasih Ramadan charity programme recently at AEON Tebrau City.
The programme saw 178 children from SK Kangkar Tebrau, SK Taman Johor Jaya 3, SMK Permas Jaya 3, Raudhatul Maryam, SK Senai Utama and SK Kangkar Pulai 2 having their best time of the year by shopping for their Raya outfits and essentials, followed by an hour of playtime in AEON Molly Fantasy entertainment centre.
“While some of us are decking ourselves out in the finest baju raya, there are others who don’t even know when their next meal would be – let alone what they will be wearing come Hari Raya. Happiness shouldn’t have to come at a financial cost, but unfortunately, it often does. This is where we step in. We want to help lessen the plight of the unfortunate and give them the joy of Aidilfitri that they deserve,” said MAF President, Dato’ Abdullah Mohd Yusof.
The children then enjoyed an adrenaline moment in a mini game session prepared by volunteers of AEON with singing and pop quiz after breaking fast. At the end of the event, smiles were seen on their faces as the children walked away with duit raya while each single parents received duit raya with a goodie bag worth of necessities such as rice, flour, cooking oil and sugar.
