Desaru Coast woke up to the sound of celebrations last weekend
Celebrating its officiation, Desaru Coast hosted their much awaited Ombak Festival, enticing locals and tourists. The Ombak Festival is set to be made into an annual event where a series of curated activities that spans over culture, music and food highlighting homegrown talent, products and creativity will be showcased.
The inaugural 3-day Ombak Festival ran from 5th to 7th July from 10am to 10pm, featuring only the best of Johor at the Desaru Coast Riverside as the main venue for the festival.
Food galore was extensive at Eat Street where food trucks lined up along the Market Place where visitors picked up what they fancied. At the Pride of Penawar, locals were selling eco-friendly materials, natural cloth dye, handcrafted wood, local trinkets as well as textiles and clothing.
Ombak Festival has pledged to ensure a progressive and sustainable event that entertains visitors and engages and educates the wider community on preserving and protecting the coastal environment. Apart from fun, visitors got to learn about protecting the coast and ocean at Respect the Coast exhibition booth.
Beach lovers got to join in a host of activities and water sports offered at the Desaru Coast beach such as beach volleyball, beach soccer and banana boat rides. There was also a Beach Bar where vitamin sea enthusiasts chilled and dined, overseeing the pristine beach.
Desaru Coast’s Adventure Waterpark also joined in the fun with exciting night activities, rides and entertainment as separate events to add more flavour to the festival. Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast had also hosted ‘A Night with Legends’ where Malaysia’s legendary performers like Dato’ Jamal Abdillah, Dato’ Khadijah Ibrahim, Datuk Ramli Sarip and Francissca Peters made memorabilia donations and held a meet session with fans at the Constant Grind Coffee Bar.
