UMLand Seri Austin and SWM Environment Promotes Recycling Campaign

UMLand Seri Austin has successfully launched its continuous ‘Green Living’ effort which is aimed at promoting recycling, where public will be awarded points for separating their garbage which can be recycled. The programme is being implemented in collaboration with SWM Environment Sdn Bhd called ‘KITAR3cycle’.

KITAR3cycle is a campaign by SWM Environment focused on spreading mass awareness and sensitising public on how and where to dispose waste in a responsible manner. Also to aim at encouraging the public to appreciate recycled items that can generate side income and save on the use of natural resources in the production of goods.

The launching of the programme officiated by Richard Tan, the official representative for YB Steven Choong, the Member of Parliament Tebrau witnessed by KK Wong, Group Director of UMLand Townships cum CEO of Seri Austin and Mohd Norlisam Mohd Nordin, General Manager of Corporate Affairs, SWM Environment Sdn Bhd. At the launching ceremony, a total of 430kg of recyclable item was collected from public as it seeks to pave the way for “a sustainable green” behaviours in improving the quality of life.

“We were recognised as the Smart Healthy City & Communities Township in Iskandar Malaysia by Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) and we continue our contribution as part of our CSR effort to communities. This collaboration can be the best avenue for residents to participate in recycling practices by becoming active members of KITAR3cycle while taking care of the environment and to help ensure sustainable development for our future generations,” said KK Wong.

Doing our bit for the environment

According to Mohd Norlisam, the campaign would give public a chance to redeem “Recycling Points” (RP) that can be converted into cash, items and shopping vouchers. “The public can choose between 35 categories of recyclable items such as paper, plastic, metal, electric appliances, used cooking oil and many others,” he added at the launch and placement of KITAR3cycle cage at Seri Austin.

To participate in the programme, you must first download the KITAR3cycle Apps set up by SWM Environment through Google Play or App Store and register. Public who have already registered as members of KITAR3cycle must put the barcode sticker on every bundle of the recyclable items according to type, such as paper, plastic and others, and put them in the Kitar3cycle cage.
