Toppen Shopping Centre is now open and has brought more than 80% of brands that are new to Johor
IKEA Southeast Asia welcomes Johoreans to Tebrau’s newest meeting place – Toppen Shopping Centre (Toppen). Located strategically 15 minutes from the city-centre and major townships, Toppen is set to bring the community closer through a myriad of local and international brands.
Toppen brings a completely new retailtainment experience with a space that spans over 1.25 million square feet of gross built-up area, housing 300 retail lots spread across four floors.
Some of the featured tenants are Harvey Norman, Ben’s Independent Grocer, TGV Cinemas, Sports Direct, Burger King, and Marrybrown just to name a few.
At the same time, Toppen brings over 80% new-to-Johor brands such as The Pantheon, who will be debuting its second eSports arena in Malaysia, 9 to 9, a first-in-Malaysia flagship online-to-offline (o2) by Hush Puppies, and Concept Haus, premium streetwear and athleisure retailer.
Complementing the retail experience, and what makes Toppen one-step-ahead is the one-of-a-kind rooftop community hub called The Topp, which features interactive outdoor spaces with over 30 F&B specialties and alfresco outlets, a rooftop garden, multipurpose courts, skate parks, a spacious event piazza, children’s playgrounds, a cinema, esports arena, and even a water play area.
“When we had the vision to create Toppen, we knew that it cannot be just another shopping centre. We wanted to create a meeting place that can contribute positively to the surrounding neighbourhood,” said Christian Roejkjaer, Managing Director of IKEA Southeast Asia in regards to The Topp.
The total GDV for Toppen is RM1.6 billion and it has been projected to offer over 5,000 employment opportunities to the local community, while already being 90% opened ahead of schedule.
“We hope that Toppen Shopping Centre will become a driver for Johor’s economic growth, together, we are creating thousands of jobs, including many spinoff opportunities for people who will provide services here. With Tebrau and Johor continuing to be a thriving community, we see a high demand for a one-stop destination that is convenient, family-friendly for shopping, leisure, dining, and overall to have a great day out with one another. A true meeting place for those in the region,” said Roejkjaer, in his opening remarks at the launch of Toppen.
