Funds and programmes to aid small medium businesses announced
Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) had organised an Export Day, Johor edition at Persada Convention Centre, Johor Bahru as another initiative to get more local businesses involved in exporting their products and services by raising awareness among small medium enterprises.
Officiated by Menteri Besar Johor Datuk Dr Sahruddin Haji Jamal, the event was jointly-organised with the state government for the first time. Also present were State International Trade, Investment and Utilities Committee chairman, Jimmy Puah Wee Tse, State Legal Advisor of Johor, Ishak Bin Sahari, Haji A. Rahim Haji Nin, State Financial Officer of Johor, Haji Azmi Rohani, State Secretary of Johor and Sharmahton Mat Saleh, Deputy CEO of MATRADE.
Organised by MATRADE for second time this year, the export day was first launched in Terengganu back in March, 2019. Programmes in the day included a series of business talks and success sharing sessions regarding Malaysia exports. Among the topics that were put forward are opportunities to access the ASEAN and China’s market, product export opportunities and halal services and MATRADE facilities for Malaysian businesses.
Participants were also briefed comprehensively about Bumiputera Export Development Programme, Women and Youth (BWEYEDP), eTRADE Programme, Marketing Development Grant (MDG) and Service Export Fund by MATRADE.
A committee was also established to coordinate all Malaysia’s export promotional activities known as JK-Eksport (Export Committee) in hope to synergise the ministry and all involving government agencies as well as optimising the impact of export promotions for the nation. JK-Eksport would be the platform to collect data and information sharing specialising in market intelligence.
The initiatives and efforts were launched on 9th October 2019 to align with Wawasan Kemakmuran Bersama 2030 (shared prosperity vision 2030) to materialise SDG – Sustainable Development Goals as well.
