Once again, for the fourth time, Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor together with its co-organiser Lee Tet Loong of Pembinaan Titis Jaya who owns TJ Mart Saleng Kulai organised the 4th Season Charity Sunset Run4Fund 2018. This charity run raised a total of RM11,000 in aid of home-bound cancer patients under the auspices of The Palliative Care Association of Johor Bahru (PCAJB). PCAJB was established in 2007 by the Rotary Club of Johor Bahru and provides quality medical and nursing care for terminally ill and cancer patients.
“This year’s run coincided with Malaysia Day and the turnout of 320 participants was for the dual purpose of charity as well as celebration of the country’s independence,” said Jef Kong, CEO of Palm Resort and General Manager of Le Grandeur.
The run started at 4.30pm and ended at 7.00pm. Four categories of winners emerged in the Run. The champion for the Men’s Open Category went to Mohd Athir Bin Ismail who finished the 8km run within 29.16 minutes, while the Ladies’ Open Category saw Sharmila D/O Sivakumar as the winner clocking at 43.25 minutes. There were also winners for the Veteran Men and Ladies category. The winners received cash prizes of RM300, RM200 and RM100 respectively, with trophies.
Many sponsors played a part in the success of the event with Nestle providing free Milo and Bonus Soy Bean drinks; F&N with 100 Plus and Super Asia for mineral water. This year the Run also received the support of The Johor Food Truck Association (JBFTA).
Dr Angamuthu, the President of PCAJB was grateful for the contribution as the amount would contribute towards covering the association’s expenses, its activities of which will directly benefit cancer patients confined at home. PCAJB is operating mostly through donations and hopes that members of the public would support the association through ways and means. They can be contacted at 019-7301652 for more details.
