The statement is made after the World Health Organisation (WHO) has characterised COVID-19 as a pandemic on 11th March 2020 as the case continues to escalate in a large scale world-wide. The initiative is also a part of the government’s effort to prevent the outbreak which has shown increasing positive COVID-19 cases in the country.
As a government department regulating registered organisations in Malaysia, RoS would abide by this instruction and the organisation will carry out various programmes including meetings at various levels. These meetings should be held as stipulated in the constitution of their respective bodies.
In the press statement, it also addressed that should the COVID-19 pandemic be still in crisis till 30th June 2020, organisations may send in an appeal for extension from the original date. The application is intended to prevent any possible abuse of Act 335 by registered bodies. RoS wishes that the efforts and measures taken by the government could help curb the COVID-19 and protect the citizens.
