Ihsan Johor Relief collaborates with UUM PACEKL’s students
Since the major earthquake that struck Lombok in August, Ihsan Johor Relief (IJR) has been engaged with various efforts to ease the burden of victims who were caught in the unexpected natural disaster.
Recently, IJR collaborated with the students of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) PACEKL’s Islamic Finance and Banking (BIFB) programme for the third installment of aid work.
This time, with children and education as the main focus, IJR acts as the platform to connect these student humanitarians to the less fortunate in providing as much essential and basic needs for the victims in the Lombok quake.
Among the initiatives brought to the Lombok children by IJR and the BIFB students are projects that deal with sustainability and health such as the Air Kehidupan Project, Sekolah Darurat Project, Psycho Social and Trauma healing, and Sinergi 1000 Huntara Project.
The 151 students ranging from 4 to 12 year olds of Sekolah Dasar Negeri (SDN) Tanak Beak Batukilang which is located in the northern part of Lombok was the target for these initiatives.
Besides that, contributions also came in the form of a new mosque dome for the Al-Falah Mosque in East Lombok, 130,000 litres of clean water, 100 units of groceries, 151 packets of candies, 50 units of hygiene kits, 4 boxes of unwanted clothes, 25 sets of exercise books and stationeries, and 5 units of temporary housing or shelter.
