Bernama reported that he shared his views that the federal government lacked effort in repairing HSA’s ICU following the fire which took place in 2016.

In response to that, Health Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad paid Sultan of Johor, HM Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar a visit to brief the state ruler on the plans to repair and upgrade the ICU at HSA.

“I want the people of Johor to have access to better public healthcare services,” said Sultan Ibrahim (Pic credit: Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar Facebook)

The hospital upgrade would include wiring installation of the 70-year-old main building  which is slated to commence in 2020.

“I had also proposed the need for another hospital in Johor Bahru in view of the increase in patients and current congestion at HSA,” said Sultan Ibrahim.

Besides that, Sultan Ibrahim also discussed plans to establish the Tunku Laksamana Cancer Centre with Dzulkefly.

“The Health Minister paid me a visit, and plans to set up Tunku Laksamana Johor Cancer Centre were discussed with a focus on cancer treatment, research and education,” the Sultan said via his  official Facebook page.

He said the setup of the cancer centre was to fulfil the aspirations of the late Tunku Abdul Jalil who had always wanted to help cancer patients.

Sultan Ibrahim said an Asian American Medical Group (AAMG) representative who is heading the project had pointed out the need for more cancer specialists to provide the best quality services.
