Stakeholders share positive prospects for manufacturing industry in Johor during Senai Airport City Forum 2018
Senai Airport City Sdn Bhd (SAC) and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) recently co-organised Senai Airport City Forum 2018 (SAC Forum 2018) which brought major industry players from all over Malaysia and the ASEAN region to engage in imperative discussions on industry concerns such as future opportunities, relevant strategies, business sustainability, emerging technologies and the future of manufacturers in Johor.
In line with the theme of the forum, “Opportunities to Grow Your Business”, Johor State Exco, International Trade, Investments and Utility Committee Chairman, Jimmy Puah Wee Tse assured FMM Johor members that plans on bringing in investors to SAC are open to both foreign industry giants as well as local SMEs.
“As businessmen, we welcome investments that contribute to the business development plans and strategies of our corporation whether foreign or local,” added Dato’ Sri Che Kalib Group Managing Director of MMC Corporation Berhad.
Senai Airport City is a 2,718 acre master planned industrial development project by SAC with completed infrastructure located adjacent to Senai International Airport. This is a new prime location for manufacturers in Johor, especially for industry players in food and electronic manufacturing, logistics and regional distribution centres and high value manufacturing.
“Senai Airport City industrial development is the next premier industrial park in Johor, taking into account its excellent facilities, strategic location near the Senai International Airport, Johor Port, Port of Tanjung Pelepas and direct access to the North-South Highway via dedicated interchange at Exit 254A. The potential growth in Senai Airport City will be a catalyst that will spur the development of Iskandar Malaysia attracting more foreign and domestic investments into Johor,” said Puah.
Currently, Senai Airport City is occupied by EcoWorld Development Group Bhd’s (EcoWorld) Eco Business Park II and AME Development Sdn Bhd’s IPark @ Senai Airport City that are developing ready-built factories for SMEs within a Gated, Guarded and Regulated (GGR) concept.
SAC as the master developer is also in talks with a dozen of multinational companies and manufacturers that are scouting for regional distribution hub within the area. As at now, Hershey Co, North America’s biggest chocolate maker, has chosen Senai Airport City as its address in Malaysia.
On a separate note, Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (Senai International Airport), a Member of MMC Group was named ‘Asia Pacific Regional Airport of the Year 2018’ under category less than 10 million annual passengers at the recent CAPA Asia Pacific Aviation Awards for Excellence 2018. – by Harish Mustak
