The Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Johor Chapter’s 2020 CSR Project to ‘Feed the Hungry’ kicked off this month in collaboration with the Kechara Soup Kitchen, a charitable NGO and IMSHA 2014 winner which runs a soup kitchen, food bank and empowerment centre to help the needy and marginalised community.
Grand Paragon Hotel Johor Bahru took the lead for twelve other hotels to follow till the end of the year. Each hotel will contribute 150 packed non-meat food with bottled water every Saturday for one chosen month.
“Once again we had called upon the hotels in Johor Bahru to step forward to help feed the homeless at the back streets of the city. There has been lesser response from donors these last two years and we are grateful that MAH has once again rallied together its member hotels to provide us with the packed food which are distributed by volunteers every Saturday night,” said Merlin Hoo, of Kechara Soup Kitchen Johor Bahru.
“This is the fourth year we are running this initiative and we are grateful that our member hotels have continued to support us, knowing that the food they supply really goes towards helping the needy,” said Ivan Teo, Chairman of MAH Johor Chapter.
The hotels that will follow Grand Paragon in the subsequent months are Ramada Meridin by Wyndham for February, Fraser Place & Pinetree Marina Resort for March, Somerset Hotels Puteri Harbour and Iskandar Puteri for April, Millesime Hotel for May, Ponderosa Golf & Country Resort for June, GBW Hotel for July, Le Grandeur Palm Resort for August, Amari Johor Bahru for September, Amansari Seri Alam Hotel for October, MCHM (Former KFCH) College for November – a MAH Associate member and for the final and closing, New York Hotel would take up December.
