Johor Tourism, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi stated that a discussion will be made after a meeting with all Johor stakeholders, MSNJ and SUKMA secretariat led by Haji ‘On Jabbar, Chief Executive Officer of SUKMA 2020. Onn explained that the SUKMA 2020 preparation which includes infrastructure and Johor athletes are on track. The meeting was called by Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Ir. Hasni Mohammad.

Onn has announced “Darul Takzim Volunteers”, made up of Johor’s youth and he calls for Johor Youth Council (MBNJ) led by Md Saleheen Mohamad to prepare the volunteers to help the state government in combating the COVID-19 outbreak. Volunteers would be the mouthpiece of the state government by informing the public and raising awareness via social media, citing that MBNJ alone has over 4,000 members.
He said the Darul Takzim Volunteers would also be mobilised to places that are in need of manpower like the hospitals, under the condition that equipment shall be provided for the volunteers to perform their duty. Other youth organisations and volunteers are welcome to join in the effort.
Onn was speaking at a press conference after officiating the handover of 20 Giant bicycles worth RM150k in total to sports centres at all 10 districts of Johor, each a pair on 17th March, 2020.
SUKMA 2020 originally scheduled to commence on 11th July 2020 in Johor, would be held mainly in three districts namely Johor Bahru, Kota Tinggi and Muar.
