Synergising the effort to bring forth homeland’s products
‘Kempen Beli Barangan Malaysia 2019’ or Buy Malaysian Made 2019 campaign is a carnival that was held nationwide to promote domestic brands, and Johor Bahru was made the campaign’s final leg on 2nd November 2019 at Dataran Angsana, Johor Bahru.
Organised by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP), Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said, “The objective of organising the carnival is to boost domestic spending by encouraging consumers in the country, especially in Johor and the southern region and Singapore to buy Malaysian-made goods while raising awareness and patriotism among the people in helping local entrepreneurs to promote different types of goods, locally made products and services.”

Officiating the closing of the carnival campaign is Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail who in her speech has said, “The campaign to boost domestic economy needs to be intensified and strengthened more broadly as the challenges of globalisation of business are increasingly contributing to the purchase of goods from abroad.”
“These sales exposures are also in line with the government’s aspiration to address the cost of living of the people, which is also one of the main focuses of the government’s initiative. Through National Action Council for Cost of Living (NACCOL) chaired by myself and the involvement of various ministries, it would be one of the government’s leading platforms in discussing and finding solutions to cost of living’s issues,” she added.
The carnival in Johor Bahru saw exhibitors from food and beverage industries, hypermarkets, farm’s goods, the oil industry and many more. Lines of local food trucks were also found outdoors and many activities like concerts performed by Malaysian artistes were held during the 5-day carnival campaign.
