Green Energy Seminar encourages local industry players to adopt green initiatives and solutions
Industry players in Pasir Gudang were recently given an in-depth explanation on various low carbon initiatives and solutions as part of a collaborative effort towards having a greener future in the region.
The ‘Green Energy’ seminar, a cooperation between Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA), Majlis Perbandaran Pasir Gudang (MPPG), Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) of Malaysia and Malaysia Green Building Council (Malaysia GBC), saw the attendance of local industry players together with the relevant local authorities and agencies.
“At IRDA, our main roles are to plan, facilitate and promote the development of Iskandar Malaysia and to ensure a balanced growth in the economic, social and environmental spheres.
At this seminar, we not only want to promote the importance of low carbon agenda but also facilitate the implementation of green initiatives by the industry players by introducing and providing them with solutions that are easily available,” said Datuk Ismail Ibrahim, Chief Executive of IRDA.
There are many benefits for industry players who choose to infuse green initiatives in their operations such as saving operation and maintenance cost, getting tax incentives for RE&EE investment in production processes, getting positive branding as an environmentally conscious company; and having a better and cleaner working environment, amongst others.
The seminar discussed topics like ‘Investment Opportunities in Green Technologies’, ‘Net Energy Metering’, ‘Green Building Accreditation in Iskandar Malaysia’, ‘Recognition Programme for Green Initiatives’, ‘Healthy Working Environment’ and ‘Green and Low Carbon Initiatives in Pasir Gudang’.
Officiating the event was Chairman of Johor Education, Human Resource, Science and Technology Committee, Haji Aminolhuda Bin Hj Hassan, who urged all parties to turn to technology to help make their daily tasks easier and at the same time help keep carbon emissions low thus helping to achieve greener future goals.
