89 school children from 8 districts in Johor were suspected to be infected by the current widespread of Influenza A.
Director of Johor Education Department (JPN), Azman Adnan said that the data they have obtained as of 1.30pm on the 12th of January 2020 shows Pasir Gudang has the highest students suspected to be infected (32 students), Johor Bahru follows 24, Kulai 15, Tangkak 6, Kluang 5, Batu Pahat and Pontian has 1 each respectively.
“The data was collected from schools through parents who have admitted their children to government and private healthcare centres.
“Based on the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) all the cases would not lead to closing classes or schools,” he added in his statement on Sunday.
However, schools and the health department will work jointly should there be class or schools’ closure.
“School session is currently running as normal but classrooms need to be sanitised with Dettol disinfectant.”
“JPN is always in touch with the Health Department for updated information or to take any further action while ensuring each schools has body temperature instrument to detect any children down with fever,” said Azman.
