The 2nd Series of the Fifa e-sports challenge got underway at UTC Pasir Gudang
Once the 1st series Fifa challenge that was held at Galleria Johor Bahru was over, everyone was looking forward to the next series which was held in UTC Pasir Gudang recently.
With a total of 160 participants this time around and a total prize pool of RM7000, everyone was looking hungrily to be top dog at the event. Once all the dust settled, it was down to 2 competitors, who go by the in game names Imp_Ash and CW_Yani. After a tight best of 3 series, Imp_Ash emerged victorious.
“We want to educate and expose the public what is e-sports and we want to get more participants from e-sports athletes to play in professional tournaments. We’re also targeting to get new funding for e-spots athletes and are grateful for the support from the government, especially from our Exco for Heritage, culture and sports Johor Mohd Khuzzan, who gives his full support to e-sports. We also want to take the challenge from the Youth and Sports Minister Malaysia Syed Saddiq to make Malaysia an e-sports hub, so our responsibility is not just to make local tournaments, but to make it an official tournament for SUKMA” said ConsoleWar Business Development Manager Afiq Aris.
Also present was Johor sports CEO Tuan Haji On Jabbar who has been a supporter for e-sports advancement to hand out prizes to the respective winners.
With 2 more tournaments to go, it looks like the Fifa e-sports challenge is a big step forward for e-sports in Johor.
