The 26 year old Plantation Course at Tanjong Puteri Golf Resort saw major upgrades and enhancements from March to October 2018 with new greens and bunkers
Take a 30 minute drive North-East from the Johor Bahru city centre, and you will reach the Tanjong Puteri Golf Resort (TPGR) which is nestled between three very distinct environments; a plantation, a village and the straits of Johor. These three different surrounding environments have inspired course designers, Max Wexler and Akira Mamiya-San to embody the essence of each setting into three very different yet similarly breathtaking courses.
Golfing at TPGR offers an excellent challenge for amateurs and professionals alike. Honoured as the Best Golfing Experience in South Malaysia, the resort not only offers golfing enthusiasts the thrill of challenging themselves on the rough and greens of three different courses, but also offers the complete resort experience with a plethora of facilities and amenities that are available on site.
While moving around the course, this year, golfers are privileged to enjoy the newly refurbished “Plantation Course” first designed by Max Wexler in 1992 which was inspired to preserve and enhance natural surroundings. All greens were replaced with Bermuda Tifdwarf but size and characteristics were maintained. All bunkers were also upgraded with new liners and fresh sand.
The area was also once a thriving oil palm plantation with living quarters and houses for workers who cultivated fruit orchards and coconut groves as means of supplementing their income.
The carefully landscaped and manicured courses blend with natural forests, mangroves and waterways, providing an ambience of closeness to nature. The undulating fairways turfed with Zoysia Matrella and emerald greens of Bermuda Tifdwarf promises a dramatic and challenging game.
Adding to the exclusive bungalows and apartments with 24 hour security service, 20 cozy guestrooms at the Clubhouse complements the existing 34 units of luxurious double-storey villas located within the resort’s sprawling grounds.
While there, tantalise your taste-buds at the many culinary delights offered at TPGR such as the He Yuan Chinese Restaurant, After 18 Lounge, De Deli Corner, Puteri Café, and not forgetting the Golfer’s Café for those thirst quenching cool-aids on hot and humid days.
