An immediate action for an immediate need to shield children from potential harm
In accordance with Department of Environment (DoE)’s report on schools that are affected by Pasir Gudang’s Sungai Kim Kim’s case just a few months back, Hershey’s Malaysia took an initiative by adopting SK Taman Daya as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
Liaising with the DoE and the Ministry of Education (MoE), Hershey’s has sponsored a gas detector for the school that is listed as one of the schools that have been affected by the pollution. Hershey’s Malaysia’s representative, Syed (EHS) cooperated with School Headmaster, Ahmad Jais for the adoption programme, with the consent from Hershey’s Plant Director, Subas Visvalingam.
Representative from Hershey Malaysia – En Asyraf (EHS) has received a recognition certificate from DoE Johor state’s Director for “Pasir Gudang Industrial School Adoption Programme 2019” (PROSPAG 2019) during the launch of the CSR programme along with their celebration of National Environment Day conducted at Mutiara Rini Recreational Park.
Hershey’s Malaysia employees had also organised a “Meet & Greet Programme” at SK Taman Daya as they are one of the listed schools in School Transformation 2025 (TS25) programme organised by the Ministry of Education Malaysia.
Among other activities that took place during the day was tree planting; a symbolic activity to mark the cooperation between Hershey Malaysia and SK Taman Daya while also encouraging the children on planting today for the benefits of the future. The school children also got Hershey’s chocolate and a healthy lunch box. A Chocolate Booth was also prepped up for the school to learn the process of chocolate making, as well as an introduction to this famous chocolate company.
Marking it as a beginning of their CSR Programme with SK Taman Daya, a lot more are happening in the month of November, such as Basic Safety 101, Personal Hygiene & Grooming Programme, Basic 5S and a Career Talk.
