English proficiency should be strengthened through various methods, in line with the rapid development of digital technology in the 21st century
Johor Department of Education’s Academic Management Sector, Sallina Hussain, said the Johor English Conference was among the platforms for teachers as well as academics to practice English language instruction, thereby enriching knowledge through knowledge sharing.
She said the programme in the region which brought together over 420 participants, coincided with the theme of Empowering Teaching and Learning English in line with Current Change.
“We are already in the digital world when talking about globalisation, and teachers need to be careful because the movement of knowledge is changing. We need teachers at schools that can attract the attention of the students in order to master the language.”
“Teachers need to be more creative and use various teaching methods,” she said after completing the Johor English Language Conference programme, here.
Also present was the President of the English Language Association (JELTA), Vincent D’Silva.
The three-day programme was organised by JELTA in collaboration with the State Education Department that aims to improve teaching methods while strengthening the mastery of participants in English.
