MICCI Southern Region Members Networking Cum Malaysia Day Celebration


Fostering closer ties among the business community and the new State Government 

Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) Southern Region held a Members’ Networking cum Malaysia Day Celebration recently at the Susanna Suites Roof Top Poolside. 

Amongst the 150 guests present were Jimmy Puah, State Exco for Investment and Utilities, Liow Cai Tong, State Exco for Women Development and Tourism, Dr S. Ramakrishnan State Exco for Consumerism, Human Resource and Unity, Mohd Khuzzan Abu Bakar, State Exco for Youth, Sports and Culture, Steven Chong, MP for Tebrau, Singapore Consulate General HE Rajpal Singh and Indonesian Consulate General Pak Haris Nugroho. 

MICCI National President Dato CK Tan and Vice President Christina Tee were also present to grace the occasion. 

In his welcoming address, MICCI Southern Region Chairman; Freddie Lee shared with all VIPs and guests that this networking and Malaysia Day celebration event was held in conjunction with celebrating the rebirth of New MICCI under the leadership of their President Dato CK Tan and also to foster closer relationship with the new State Government.  

MICCI is now undergoing major transformation to delegate more authorities to the various state branches in financial matters and to eventually incorporate MICCI into MICCI Federation of all the branches. 

Under the dynamic leadership of President Dato CK Tan, MICCI Board Members had the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir and ministers of other ministries to establish rapport and convey their continued support to the new Government. 

Likewise, Freddie Lee also mentioned that MICCI Southern will be making appointments for courtesy call to the various State Executive Persons in the Southern region. Lee also urged members to step forward to volunteer their time and expertise to serve in the MICCI Select Committees. 

President Dato CK Tan also briefed those present of his plans to propel MICCI to greater heights and be a Chamber of good recognition. 

Guest of Honour Jimmy Phua, in addressing the guests assured the business community that the new Government understands the aspiration of businesses and will always be pro-business. Phua also welcomes businesses facing any difficulties to approach him in his office should they need any assistance with governmental issues. 

All guests had a wonderful evening of networking and free flow of food and drinks under the cool evening sky where friendship were renewed and new acquaintances made.
