A baby’s birth can be a very emotional time for a new mother. Carrying her baby in her womb for nine months before going through the ups and downs of labour can be quite exhausting. Everyone has their own advices to give to the new parents and sometimes, it can be too overwhelming.
Fear no more, as a new mobile application called 10 MOM is set to be the one-stop-centre for all antenatal and postnatal information and activities to benefit future parents, family planners and the community that deals with pregnancy care services.
The app launching ceremony was officiated by Liow Cai Tung, Johor Women Development and Tourism Committee Chairman where she was accompanied by Christina Tee, the Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice President.
“To new parents, instead of being anxious, confused, and unprepared – all the mixed feelings when expecting a baby, one may refer to the 10 MOM app for all sorts of information related to antenatal care such as nutrition, confinement services, pre and postnatal massage service, purchasing of baby products, and many more,” said the Director of 10 MOM, Henry Pang. The Founder of 10 MOM, Fiona Wong also added, “The expecting parents will not only have less of a headache, but they will also feel safe and secure knowing that all the services provided in the app is legitimate. 10 MOM is not just an information and services platform; it is also a medium for education”.
During the launch, two Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between 10 MOM and Southern University College (Southern UC), Wisdom Synergy Management Centre Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of 10 MOM) and Training Qualification United Kingdom (TQUK). The MoUs marked the partnership in providing proper education to the public through a Professional Diploma in Postnatal Care Programme offered at the Southern Institute of Technical Education (SITE) Southern UC backed up by certification from TQUK.
Regarding increasing confinement centres and services in Malaysia, Liow Cai Tung said that the Federal government is expected to implement policies on confinement centres and services as soon as possible to enable the businesses to be properly monitored. The reason behind this policy is because Johor had reported two infant mortality cases in confinement centres this year and something has to be done to prevent it from happening again.
The mobile app also acts as a platform which provides job opportunities to locals as well as foreigners who have graduated from the relevant courses offered at Southern UC.
Freelancers are welcome to join 10 MOM to increase their chances to share their services to the growing market.
