The bicycle-sharing system, oBike was launched at the recent inaugural Edible Festival that drew about 6,000 visitors
The launch of oBike took place at a perfect time as it supplemented the Edible Festival’s sustainability and green-themed programme in Medini.
Presently, there are more than 1000 oBike-branded bicycles placed at various locations within Iskandar Puteri, particularly in Medini City, EduCity, Puteri Harbour and other parts of Johor Bahru.
oBike Malaysia Country Lead, Ian Goh said, “oBike; Malaysia’s first smart station-free bike-sharing operator uses technology to change how transportation is viewed locally. Nowadays people look for convenience and oBike is able to provide environmentally friendly commute option for all and this is surely a healthier and greener choice of transportation.”
“Currently, the oBikes in EduCity provide a simple and hassle-free alternative mode of transportation to more than 4,000 students.
Furthermore there are dedicated cycling lanes in EduCity, Puteri Harbour, and Medini, invoking a healthy cycling culture around these areas,” said Akmal Ahmad, COO of Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB).
