A team of 10 local Johoreans travelled to Jakarta to work with a local team there to assemble a large sun and buildings for the recent 2018 Asian Games
The 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang saw Malaysia come away with 7 gold, 13 silver and 16 bronze medals in the Games. The Opening Ceremony in August also featured Malaysian input with the team at Red Circle Project’s building a large sun and Buildings for the event.
Built at Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, was a 12m diameter Sun which was flown during the event over a large mountain. The team also created the set for the Energy of Asia segment which was creating the skyline of Malaysia with 12m high steel frames with lighting for effect.
A team of 10 local Johoreans travelled to Jakarta to build and remove the set pieces, working with a local team in Jakarta to assemble. The Red Circle Crew Chief Zulkifli from Muar spent a month in Jakarta, maintaining the set pieces and training local volunteers on the use of the set elements. Zulkifli said he enjoyed his time in Jakarta, but much preferred the food in his home of Johor. Zulkifli has previously travelled with Red Circle Projects to Baku in Azerbaijan on a previous project.
Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios is now packed with over four films currently being worked on and the studios is most known for the location for the Netflix series Marco Polo. With a significant rise in the number of films being shot at the Iskandar Studios, the future of film in Johor is looking bright.
