Although there was heavy rainstorm the night before the event, at 7.30 am golf players from around the world gathered fresh-faced and enthusiastic ready to start the World Final of the most prestigious and largest amateur golf tournament at Forest City Golf Resort officiated by His Highness Tunku Abu Bakar Mahmood Iskandar Ibni Sultan Ibrahim Ismail, Tunku Putra Johor.

World Amateur Golfers Championship (WAGC) launched its 24th Edition in Johor hosting 350 players including their family members at four golf courses – The Els Club Desaru Coast, Horizon Hills Golf & Country Club, Palm Resort Golf & Country Club, and Forest City Golf Resort.

The event was organised by Delta Trend Golf & Leisure Holidays.

Founded in 1995 by Swedish sports figure the late Sven Tumba, WAGC believes golf promotes friendship and business with more than 1 million golfers from more than 40 countries registered participating globally.

While promoting Johor’s premier golfing destinations, the organisers, along with official partners Tourism Johor and Tourism Malaysia, had also lined up activities and programmes for participants to experience Johor’s culture.
