More than 20 schools received new reading materials through MMC Smart Circle Programme
Garrison Keillor once said “A book is a gift you can open again and again” and in this line, MMC Corporation Berhad (MMC), a premier utilities and infrastructure group had successfully contributed RM120,000 worth of reading materials to 24 schools nationwide through its MMC Smart Circle Programme.
The MMC Smart Circle Programme was established with the objectives to empower students with knowledge and encourage good reading habits to increase their intellectual capacity which will simultaneously prepare them for their PT3 and SPM examinations.
The programme saw 24 schools from Central, Southern and Northern regions receiving new reading materials in stages from November 2017 till January 2018. The materials were distributed by MMC and its subsidiaries namely, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas, Johor Port Berhad, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd, Penang Port Sdn Bhd, Kontena Nasional Berhad, Gas Malaysia Berhad, Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd, Senai Airport City and MMC Engineering and Services to the respective schools in a closed ceremony.
In addition to the MMC Smart Circle Programme, MMC had also organised a Back-To School programme to provide brand new school supplies to over 200 underprivileged students in southern and central regions for the current academic year.
Both MMC Smart Circle and the Back-To-School programme were part of MMC’s commitment for its Corporate Social Responsibility programme to enhance the social and economic well-being of its communities under the education pillar. MMC will continue its community development initiative to build a better future for the communities within its operations, nationwide.
